Fresh sweetcorn on the cob, 59p each or 5 for £2.50. Sweet, juicy and picked at its best, this is the corn we sell by the pallet load every summer at Barleylands Farm Shop in Billericay.
This year's crop comes from a farm just over the river in Kent, after the sun burnt out our usual Essex grower's field. It is every bit as good, and we would not sell it if it was not. Read the full story in our blog post, The Big Sweetcorn Problem.
Perfect for barbecues: boil for five minutes and roll in butter, or griddle until the kernels start to catch and go golden. Strip the kernels off the cob for salads, chowder or a quick sweetcorn fritter.
Available in store on Southend Road, Billericay, and online with delivery across Essex postcodes.
