What you'll find at our Billericay farm shop
We stock the fresh and the everyday side-by-side, all in one trip:
- Fresh fruit and vegetables, restocked daily and sourced from local Essex growers when the season allows. Browse our vegetable range and seasonal fruit.
- Fresh meat: beef, lamb, pork, poultry and sausages, all pre-packed and ready to grab. See the full meat range and our cooked meats.
- In-house bakery: sourdough loaves and pastries baked on-site, alongside fresh bread, rolls, traybakes and cakes. See bread & rolls and cakes.
- British eggs, fresh milk and dairy: British free-range eggs, fresh milk, local and continental cheese.
- Plants and garden centre: bedding plants, seasonal flowers, compost and gardening supplies.
- Bargain groceries: cupboard staples and snacks at prices that often beat the supermarket. New bargain pallets come in regularly, like the Diet Coke pallet that sold out in two days. Stock up on pasta and rice, tinned goods, biscuits, crisps and snacks.
- Household and pet: cleaning, pet food, kitchen and bathroom basics.
Family-run since 2001
We've been on the same Southend Road site for over two decades. Peter and Ross Assenheim took the reins in 2001 and have run it as a family business ever since. We know our customers by name, we choose every product on the shelf, and we treat the shop like the local it is. We're proud to supply not just home shoppers but also schools, hotels, restaurants, pubs and the NHS across Essex. When you buy from us, you're buying from a farm shop that real businesses trust day in, day out. You can read more on our about us page.
What's in season this month
We rewrite our seasonal produce notes every month. See What's in season this month at Barleylands for what's at its best on the shelves right now, including English asparagus, the first British strawberries, fresh herbs and the new season's salad leaves.
